Welcome to my Narrative Project page for my English Composition Class. I will be posting my updated drafts for this project, so my progress can be shown. Whenever I have written narratives for school in the past, I have felt inspired, self-assured and my classmates were amused by them. I acknowledge it is because I am writing about something that I am familiar with. To give you some insight, the narrative story will be a memoir about a past experience that evoked a powerful emotion on me. I consider myself a very emotional person but knowing how to hide it, moving out of country made me even more emotional and not having my family in the moment made me a person that can hold it and wait until I can communicate to them. I can hide my emotions from people I am not that close with, but if this person is so special for me like my mom, my sister, my husband or my best friend, its so hard to hide my emotions. I also learned that just them will really care about my difficult situation than the rest of the people. So I smile and say everything is good, and I give the best of me when I am through a rough time for the rest of the world.
To begin my process of writing the memoir, I first composed a Letter to my Author-self , When I wrote this blog, I realized how I abandoned my author self for so many years without knowing the reason, creating this letter made me go back and take care of the writer I wanted to be, so in some way push me to dedicate more time to it.
Challenging myself on Blog 4, It was really helpful, I had to mix quotes from the reading with a lot of imagination and real scenes as my pass life as a flight attendant to create Writing Process Roundtable. I was proud of myself when I finished because I struggled when I was composing it.
Also in Blog 5, Composing an Emotional Scene with Dialogue and Symbolism; It was amazing writing it, because it was a big adventure for me doing the hand gliding in Rio do Janeiro, Brazil. Sitting on my desk with my laptop, I went back in time mentally, remembering all the emotions and environmental details, seeing the ability of being able to transfer myself from a memory to a keyboard and share it with my class made me feel an a professional writer.
Last but not least, the next assignment which polish me as a writer, Blog #6, Telling Myself a Different Story: A memoir Counterfactual; it was the opposite story of my experience doing hand gliding, It was the " what if" I really enjoyed doing this writing because I imagine myself as a movie director who gives the audience another ending to the story. Which is typically in real life, unexpected situations comes to our life, we just have to grab a pen and a piece of paper and put it down.
I will always remember Dr. Sabatino saying "when you write it you are putting it out". It helps your emotions to be controlled. It keeps your brain active and the ability of everyday compose faster and faster. Not being afraid of typing whatever comes to your mind. It is entertainment, because you are the only one who put the ending period at it.
When I completed this blog assignment, I am pretty confident this memoir will touch hearts and teach people that time for friends is very important. Life never asks if you are ready to handle a difficult situation. Life just drop it on you and keep going.
